EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Chef David Burke, owner of Orchard Park by David Burke in East Brunswick, was named finalists for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 New Jersey Award.

The award by Ernst & Young honors business leaders for their “ambition, ingenuity and courage” in the face of adversity that helps catapult businesses to the next and beyond.

Burke was selected by a panel of independent judges. The winners will be announced during a virtual celebration on July 26 and will go on to become lifetime members of the community of Entrepreneur Of The Year alumni from around the world.

“I am honored and humbled by the nomination of EY New Jersey Entrepreneur of the Year,” Burke said in a statement.

“On behalf of my entire team at DB Global, we have worked incredibly hard to get to this place and we are very excited to learn the results. Through some very difficult and challenging times, we have persevered through and turned into a robust hospitality management firm that we are very, very proud of.”

During the second wave of the pandemic last year, Burke opened his restaurant in East Brunswick. Despite the restaurant industry facing various hardships, he said he was “optimistic and confident” that the community would support local businesses.

Recognized for his appearances on TV’s ‘Top Chef Masters’, Burke is considered one of the leading pioneers of modern American cuisine. He has restaurants at seven locations across New Jersey including Belmar, Sea Bright, Rumson and East Brunswick.

Winners of the regional Entrepreneur of the Year award are eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards, which will be announced in November.
